God is my Strength.

My final blog will be talking about being fit for Christ. Society today is focusing on the body and mind being healthy and with obesity being a big problem today this is a great thing to do. But, a person cannot be wholly fit unless it involves recognizing the importance of having faith in Christ and allowing him to be in control of your whole being. The article Holy and healthy living written by Rhonda talks about how people go to doctors or specialists when they have a disease but when a Christian is looking for healing this should not be just for one part of your body but instead should incorporate the whole being, mind, body and spirit (Rhonda, http://www.holyandhealthyliving.com/benefits-of-meditation/, 2014). The article also talks about the many benefits of meditation for people who want to become healthy. Rhonda states, “For people of faith one of the main benefits of meditation is that it can help you to feel closer to God” (2014). Rhonda also says that meditation helps to clear a person’s mind of negative thinking in order to have greater focus on setting goals for your life (Rhonda, 2014).
This article would be useful for a coach who is dealing with a client who wants to become physically fit. If our lives are not right with God then this can have an effect on us not only mentally but physically as well. Meditating on the word of God and prayer is most beneficial and according to Lynda Clements when a client is trying to become fit then it should bring glory to God and not to themselves (Fit for Christ: The practice of health coaching, producer Jennifer Cisney, retrieved from : Liberty University online, 2009). As a coach I would explain to my client that I would help them try to become fit but the important thing is to put God first in their life before anything else.
The Bible is clear in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that our bodies belong to God once we become a believer because we were bought with the price of Jesus’s sacrifice and we need to glorify Him with how we take care of it. This does not mean that we try to be like skinny models that are exploiting themselves and dishonoring God. It means taking care of what God has entrusted us with. The important thing that a coach should tell their client is that when trying to become fit that they should offer their bodies to God because this is the proper way of worshiping Him (Romans 12:1).
